There is a short list of things you can do that will get you kicked off your flight. Bringing on your own alcohol is one thing. Getting belligerent and drunk is another. But one man took his bad plane behavior to a new high.
A Jet2 flight from Belfast, Ireland, to Ibiza, Spain, had to make an emergency landing in France after a disruptive passenger exhibited “aggressive” behavior towards flight crew and fellow passengers, The Sun reported.
The man was apparently traveling with a blow-up doll, according to some other passengers. Yes, that kind of blow-up doll.
A person who was apparently also on the flight posted on Twitter, “Nice one guys! Together with a blow up doll at 7am in front of my kids and long queues! Way to go!”
The man was reportedly part of a bachelor party, which had become “rowdy,” according to BBC Northern Ireland.
Another passenger said the diversion doubled the flight time from three hours to six.
A spokesperson from Jet2 told The Sun, “The customer, Mr. McDowell, travelling with a group was aggressive to both crew and fellow customers on board, something which will not be tolerated.” They added that his behavior was “particularly unnecessary” toward a member of the crew and that he was “aggressive and unruly” around other passengers with small children.
“It's very clear that consuming alcohol illicitly contributed to this behaviour and as part of our ‘OnBoard Together’ approach we will continue to call for action to better control the sale and consumption of tax free goods purchased at airports,” the spokesperson said. “We will not under any circumstances tolerate this type of disgraceful behaviour onboard our aircraft.”
