World's Best The Top 10 City Hotels in Greater Los Angeles in 2018 By Rebecca Ascher-Walsh Rebecca Ascher-Walsh Rebecca Ascher-Walsh is a New York City-based journalist and author who specializes in celebrity and lifestyle coverage. Wander down to breakfast at the Peninsula Beverly Hills, and you’re sure to spot studio heads eating egg-white frittatas with aspiring screenwriters. Book a banquette for lunch at the Beverly Hills Hotel’s iconic Polo Lounge and you’ll likely be a table away from actors taking a break from shopping on Rodeo Drive. But no matter your day job, all of these hotels will make you feel like a celebrity. Every year for our World’s Best Awards survey, T+L asks readers to weigh in on travel experiences around the globe — to share their opinions on the top hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more. Hotels were rated on their facilities, location, service, food, and overall value. Properties were classified as city or resort based on their locations and amenities. Another nascent addition is the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown, a perfect pick for those who wish to tower above the scene in a 73-story glass building. And the year-old, 170-room Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, which boasts a La Prairie spa and a rooftop Jean-Georges Vongerichten restaurant, elicited the reader assessment “Best new hotel in Los Angeles. Amazing!” At the London West Hollywood, steps from Sunset Boulevard, the 226 suites have private terraces and elegant, understated décor. And this year’s winner, which was recently renovated, has only 116 suites; staying here may make you feel that you are in your own home (if your home has turndown service). In a city that’s often about striving, a visit to one of these spots reminds you that you’ve already arrived. Read on for the full list of winners. 01 of 10 10.
