Every year for our World’s Best Awards survey, T+L asks readers to weigh in on travel experiences around the globe — to share their opinions on the top hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more. Hotels were rated on their facilities, location, service, food, and overall value. Properties were classified as city or resort based on their locations and amenities. But the centuries-old property reopened to fanfare last summer, following an opulent, four-year makeover and new management under Rosewood Hotels & Resorts. Each of its 124 guest rooms and suites — a handful of which were styled by Karl Lagerfeld — has been redecorated in neutral colors and with liberal use of silk and marble; additions include a spa and a pool lined with 17,600 tiles. One recent visitor wrote, “Elegant and not stuffy.” Another added, “Exceptional in every way.” Also lauded following after a multimillion-dollar renovation is the Park Hyatt Paris–Vendôme, a sleek boutique hotel created from five adjoining Haussmann-era town houses. Its revamped 153 rooms and suites have spa-like bathrooms with limestone walls and heated floors. There are even pet amenities, should you choose to bring Fifi. Le Bristol, an Oetker Collection jewel on the Rue du Faubourg St.-Honoré, is renowned for its decadently decorated 190 rooms and suites, garden dining, and rooftop indoor pool with views out over Paris. It has been nudged out of the top spot it occupied last year and into fourth place, behind Le Meurice and the Peninsula; both of those hotels also make the Top 100 list, as does this year’s No. 1 Paris pick. The greatest challenge may not lie in choosing from among these magnificent hotels, but in being convinced to leave the comfort of your freshly ironed sheets for the world outside. For that, you can rely on the wise encouragement of the concierge. 01 of 10 10. Shangri-La Hôtel Courtesy of Shangri-La Hotel, Paris Score: 91.87 02 of 10 9. Guests who venture from their rooms — each of which comes with a dedicated butler — can enjoy the hotel’s Michelin two-starred restaurant and the spa’s 50-foot pool. One awed reader wrote, “It is in a class by itself.” See all of our readers' favorite hotels, airlines, cruise lines, and more in the World's Best Awards for 2018. Was this page helpful?
