The 2019 World's Best Hotels in Beijing in 2019
The capital of the most populous country in the world, Beijing is nothing short of grand. It’s also enormous, making it all too easy to become overwhelmed by hotel options. So when it comes to choosing a place to stay, our readers selected five elegant properties that strike a balance between cosmopolitan and cozy.
Every year for our World’s Best Awards survey, T+L asks readers to weigh in on travel experiences around the globe — to share their opinions on the top hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more. Hotels were rated on their facilities, location, service, food, and overall value. Properties were classified as city or resort based on their locations and amenities.

The centrally located Peninsula Beijing is a perennial favorite for one reader. “We have stayed here every time we go to Beijing,” one reader wrote. “I highly recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to be pampered and feel like you are welcome in Beijing.” And pampered you will be. The Peninsula boasts a serene spa complete with thermal baths. Treatments draw from Chinese, ayurvedic, and European healing philosophies, as well as the Thai massage tradition.
There’s also the Four Seasons Beijing, a stunning pillar of Beijing’s Chaoyang embassy district. Even in the heart of a bustling metropolis, the hotel offers a luxe respite from the bright sights and sounds. “I especially enjoyed the small outdoor garden for coffee,” wrote a fan. Aman Summer Palace, meanwhile, channels ancient Chinese royalty. One reader lauded the authentic experience at the Palace, while another declared, “I think it's great to rest and relax away from it all!”

As the first Rosewood property in China, the Rosewood Beijing graced the city’s Chaoyang district with world-class amenities. Highly anticipated when it opened in 2015, the hotel has been dazzling guests with eye-popping guest rooms and tranquil common areas ever since. It’s no wonder, then, that the place tops the list as Beijing’s best hotel, notching a 97.87 rating from T+L readers. The Rosewood sits across from Beijing’s iconic CCTV building, offering views of its glassy exterior and the surrounding skyscrapers. Glide through the hotel’s entrance — flanked by Jiao Tu, or sons of dragon, sculptures — to be greeted by a lush courtyard. Inside, a sparkling swimming pool is surrounded by glass walls, while a relaxation deck and a seriously indulgent spa make for two perfect spots to lounge after a day of exploring.
