Luckily for travelers making the trip, plenty of world-class hotels await, from stately grandes dames and sleek high-rises to edgy boutique hotels. Every year for our World’s Best Awards survey, T+L asks readers to weigh in on travel experiences around the globe — to share their opinions on the top hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more. Hotels were rated on their facilities, location, service, food, and overall value. Properties were classified as city or resort based on their locations and amenities. By contrast, Vancouver took home the lion’s share this year, with five out of 10 of the winning properties located in the scenic West Coast city — including readers’ No. 2, the Loden Hotel, which climbed eight spots from last year’s list. While the eco-friendly hotel is renowned for its understated elegance, breathtaking views of the mountains and harbor, and buzzy French bistro, readers were most fond of the thoughtful and attentive service. “The front desk staff went above and beyond during our stay,” wrote one reader. “The manager even hand-delivered Band-Aids so we wouldn’t have to go out and buy them.” Related: The Top 10 Canada Resort Hotels Three Montreal hotels landed on this year’s list, including our winner.
