The Morongo Indian tribe has transformed the sleepy town of Cabazon into a popular destination for Angelinos. Make your money at craps tables and slot machines and find ways to spend it at numerous shopping destinations.

Morongo Casino Resort & Spa

Rising 27 stories above the California desert, the Morongo Resort channels the luxury resorts of Las Vegas with its full-service spa, nightclub, a 150,000-square-foot casino, and a state-of-the-art theatre hosting shows by top musical acts. There’s also a water park with a manmade beach, and five dining options ranging from an upscale steakhouse to an international buffet. Many of the 310 guest rooms provide views of the San Gorgonio and San Jacinto mountains, and the six casitas also have fireplaces and private pools.

Desert Hills Premium Outlets

If your idea of shopping is bagging designer goods for less, then Cabazon, just off I-10, is sheer heaven. The highway-hugging outlets feature 130 stores—from the usual mass-market brands to exclusive labels like Gucci, Etro, Prada, and Tod’s.

Wheel Inn

Head to the 24-hour Wheel Inn truck stop, overshadowed by massive dinosaur road sculptures, for prime rib and Dijon dill salmon.
