Welcome to Óbidos, Portugal, a charming town that has a rich history dating back all the way to the Middle Ages. Once a bustling port and gateway to the Atlantic, Óbidos is perfect for a day trip from Lisbon—there is plenty to see, from the winding alleyways of the walled city to the famous Castle of Óbidos. To enter the city, travelers pass through the main gates, Porta da Villa, which feature traditional azulejo tiling depicting the Passion of Christ.
