Travel + Leisure Editorial Guidelines Published on August 25, 2022 Share Tweet Pin Email Photo: Valerie Wilcox In May, Airbnb unveiled a few new search functions to its site to make it easier than ever to find the perfect vacation rental, including a few one-of-a-kind stays in its OMG! Category. This category is meant to only display the wildest, zaniest, over-the-top stays around the globe, and the OMG! stays are proving their worth with this brand-new overnight aboard Theodore TOO, a beloved 65-foot tugboat in Canada. In case you’re unfamiliar with Theodore, let us give you a little background. Theodore Tugboat was a Canadian children’s show that ran in the ‘90s about a little boat that lived in the Big Harbor and taught kids how to resolve their struggles, all via adorable scenarios played out by the boat. Valerie Wilcox Valerie Wilcox In 2000, the boat jumped from the small screen to real life. And now, the Theodore replica is becoming an Airbnb hosted by Captain Noah, who is helming the tugboat this summer in Hamilton, Ontario. “Our crew is lucky to spend the summer cruising the Great Lakes aboard the friendliest tugboat in Canada, which is why I’m so excited Theodore TOO fans have the chance to take part in his adventures,” Captain Noah shared in a statement provided to Travel + Leisure. “As your Airbnb host, I can’t wait to show you around Theodore TOO from bow to stern and port to starboard and take you on your own Big Harbor adventure for a night.” Valerie Wilcox Henry Shepard Guests can request to book a one-night stay beginning Monday, Aug. 29, at 12 p.m. EST on its special Airbnb page. But if you want to lock in a stay, make sure to have your “book now” fingers at the ready, as there will be just two nights offered. Valerie Wilcox Once on deck, guests will embark on a cruise of Hamilton Harbour, which is at the western edge of Lake Ontario (one of the Great Lakes). The Captain and his crew will treat guests to a few delicious meals from local Hamilton restaurants and take guests to watch the sunset before setting up a movie night on the deck. Valerie Wilcox Guests can then head to bed in their cozy room while the boat lulls them to sleep on the water. In honor of these stays, Airbnb will make a one-time donation to The Sunshine Foundation of Canada, a national charity that fulfills dreams for children and youth living with physical disabilities. The two individual one-night stays will take place on Sept. 10, 2022, and Sept. 11, 2022, and will run for just $22 a night, as a nod to Theodore TOO’s 22 years. Request your booking here.
