World's Best 2001: Hotels

A Ritz-Carlton has taken the top spot in the continental United States and Canada every year since 1997, and 2001 is no exception. The twist: the Ritz-Carlton, Chicago, is actually managed by Four Seasons. The new winner brings Four Seasons' total in the top 100 to 22 properties, more than any other chain (Ritz-Carlton has 14). Las Vegas hotels also make a serious mark—five finish in the top 100 (the most ever), including big movers Bellagio, in third place (up from 22nd last year), and the Venetian, in 24th (up from 74th).
