Beginning today through December 10, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts will be teaming up with Sleeping Children Around the World, a charity that donates "bedkits" to children in more than 33 countries around the world. For each gift card sold during this time period, the hotel chain will donate the cost of one bedkit to the organization.

What exactly is a bedkit? It's a package that consists of a mat, sheets, blankets, clothing, and in malaria-prone countries, a mosquito net. Earlier this year, the company delivered its one-millionth bedkit. Each kit costs $35 to produce, which is exactly how much Four Seasons will donate for each gift card purchased, no matter the dollar amount of the card.

What I love most about this charity is that it is truly a not-for-profit organization, run by volunteers who donate their time and money to this cause—yes, they even foot the bill for their travel expenses when they hand deliver the finished product. To boot, volunteers purchase the bedkits materials locally, helping to support the community and ridding the company of the need to finance shipment costs.

So let's just take a minute to do the math here, shall we? One million bedkits, at $35 a pop, means more than $35,000,000 has not only been raised, but 100 percent of the total went to people in need.

To purchase a gift card, you can visit the Four Seasons website—for cards in the $50–5,000 range—or any Four Seasons property. Or, visit the official site to make a donation directly to the charity.
