This month, gourmet food company Starwich will team up with Continental to offer preflight ordering at Newark and Dulles airports. Fliers can select sandwiches such as pomegranate-juniper-glazed chicken ($9) and soft-shell crab BLT ($14) from check-in kiosks and airport phones.
The FCC has recently cleared the way for wireless Internet access on domestic carriers by relaxing the rules that govern air-to-ground transmission. But don't expect to e-mail from 30,000 feet until 2006.
