Jackson Hole’s spa scene was slow to take off. For years, it was just the Body Sage, operating out of converted hotel rooms in the basement of the Rusty Parrot near downtown Jackson. Teton Village, the hamlet at the base of the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, didn’t get its first spa until 2000. Nowadays, of course, you could do a different spa a day and not find yourself repeating for two full weeks. Teton Village itself has almost enough locations to occupy a full week. Now that there is a choice of spas, you can be picky. And you should be. The growth of spas has been great for the valley’s best estheticians and body workers, but not always for clients. Now there’s a chance of getting a mediocre therapist. But if you follow the recommendations for spas and particular treatments below, chances are slim that will happen.

Facial at Body Sage at the Rusty Parrot

All of the treatments at Body Sage Spa, recently moved into its own purpose-built space near downtown Jackson, are customized to your needs. Looking for the hot tub/sauna/lounge spa experience? That’s not here. Want a facial that leaves skin glowing for a week? Between esthetician Kelly and the organic Amala products used, the Body Sage is perfect.

Peak Performance at the Four Seasons

It’s one of the largest spas in Teton Village—11,685-square feet; 16 treatment rooms—but you’ll often feel like you have the Four Seasons’ Spa to yourself. Prior to a Peak Performance treatment, which uses active stretching and therapeutic massage to re-energize sore muscles, try the hot tub, cold plunge, and sauna in both the men’s and women’s locker areas.

Hotel Terra

The four-treatment room Chill Spa at the LEED certified boutique property Hotel Terra makes contemporary cozy with fuzzy footstools in its intimate co-ed lounge and a rooftop hot tub looking out on the valley’s southern end and distant Snake River Range. Try to book your massage here with Betsy.

Redwood-rich and devoid of anything that might cause even a millisecond lapse of the peace and tranquility of its supremely serene space, the Amangani Spa, like the hotel it belongs to, offers service that is elegant and attentive. Specialty treatments take the area’s high altitude and dry climate into effect.

Grace Spa

Jackson’s first truly spa-like day spa opens one block from the Town Square in December 2014. We know it will be gorgeous and the treatments—facials, massage, and salon services--top-notch because founder (and esthetician) Grace Mahoney previously managed two resort spas in the area and does the best facials in the valley.
