Top Luxury Hotels in Jackson Hole
Luxury might be the most hotly contested hotel category in Jackson Hole. There are worse problems a resort town could have. Teton Village, the hamlet at the base of the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, has the valley’s highest concentration of luxury hotels and resorts. But there are fine properties hidden elsewhere in the valley, including a historic lodge in Grand Teton National Park, an old favorite of Travel + Leisure readers in downtown Jackson (magazine readers once ranked the Rusty Parrot Lodge the #1 hotel in North America), and the continent’s first Aman Resort. Wherever you stay in the valley, don’t expect luxury to be synonymous with stuffy. Jackson Hole seems to have perfected a relaxed refinement where a sport coat is as welcome—and as expected—as a Patagonia fleece. I’ve gotten to take staycations at all of the luxury hotels in the valley and don’t envy you having to choose just one from my favorites below.
The only thing more impressive than Amangani’s views is its level of service, elegant and attentive without being suffocating. The building and forty rooms are a testament to Western Zen with natural stone, textured fabrics, and an abundance of wood. Design is about simplicity without being simple and serenity reigns.
Sleep on high thread count sheets under down comforters here at night. By day, let the resort’s ski concierges (winter) or Base Camp experts (summer) tell you about the best places to hike, watch wildlife, shop, or dine. At this ski-in/ski-out hotel in Teton Village, your wish is staff’s command.
Looking for hip luxury? The eco-friendly boutique Hotel Terra is it. Its western-chic lobby—think tailored leather armchairs and a roaring fireplace—encourages socializing while divine bathrooms and 100 percent natural mattresses keep you in your room.
Jenny Lake Lodge
From the white linen on dining room tables (and suggestion men wear jackets to dinner), to the historic and fully resorted and updated guest cabins, Jenny Lake Lodge’s luxury is old school and understated. Want to go for a ride in the surrounding national park? Horse or bike? The lodge, which is open May – October, has both.
Rusty Parrot Lodge
Checking in at this 32-room inn on a quiet street in downtown Jackson, don’t be surprised if you’re greeted by name … and then asked if you’d like a drink brought up to your room or, in the summer and fall, the third-floor outdoor deck looking out on the neighboring park and the Gros Ventre Mountains.
