Full disclosure: I used to be a Radio City Rockette. And even though I retired a decade ago, this time of year always brings back memories of the start up of rehearsals and the build of excitement as kicking season approaches. I still like to check in on the ladies, just seven blocks up from our offices, and each year I am amazed that I was ever a part of that giant, glittery, moving entity that I always think of as a hyper-size, surreal, living version of a Hammacher Schlemmer music box.

Tonight the latest incarnation of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular opens in New York City. (You can buy tickets here.) But even if the Big Apple isn’t in your travel plans this season, you can still make the princesses of precision part of your holiday. In its biggest tour ever, the Radio City Christmas Spectacular tour will grace 31 cities, through November and December.

The show is directed and choreographed by Linda Haberman, who conceived and directed the 75th anniversary show at Radio City Music Hall, and who has been bringing young dancers to a higher level of sharp and sassy for many years—and take it from someone who knows firsthand, if Haberman has a hand in it, it is going to be great.
