Divorce is a stressful event in a person’s life. According to the Holmes-Rahe Stress scale, which measures the stress load a person carries and how likely it can affect physical health, divorce ranks second — just below the death of a spouse — among the highest stressors a person can face.

Considering that, it’s important for a divorcee to take care of themselves during this highly intense, emotional time.

Capitalizing on the recent trend, Orchid City and Spa in the U.K. has created “Divorce Parties” — spa and hotel packages geared toward newly divorced women to get away for a weekend with their friends.

According to the company, packages typically consist of gathering “a group of their female friends for a night or two away, with some nice meals, fun nights out, and a bit of pampering thrown in for good measure.”

“Society's attitude towards divorce is shifting and people are becoming much more accepting of it,” managing director Paul Southgate said in a statement, according to Travel Mole. “Our new divorce party breaks are designed to be a fun break in relaxing surroundings. They're an ideal opportunity for newly single ladies to reconnect with their friends, consider their options, and really have some fun in the process.”

Southgate added that the divorce rate is 42 percent (in the U.K.). According to The Telegraph, however, the divorce rate is decreasing. Still, Southgate expects divorce parties will become more popular, and that they have been a trend in the U.S. for a while.

As for U.S. divorce parties, Oprah even endorsed throwing a divorce party back in 2010.

Regardless of your marital situation, a weekend getaway with all your BFFs sounds like a great idea.
