Ritz-Carlton Hotels announced today that it will open its first property in Israel at the marina in Herzliya, a suburb on the coast a bit north of Tel Aviv. Set to open in March 2012, the property will have 110 rooms and will also feature 85 Ritz-Carlton Residential Suites.

Having lived in Israel for several years when he was younger, Simon F. Cooper, the president and COO of Ritz-Carlton, was pleased to announce the brand's expansion to Israel. "The selection of a site in Herzliya will appeal to both leisure and business travelers, and recognizes a coastal suburb just north of Tel Aviv as an area that is ready to welcome a five star-caliber property,” says Cooper.

Ritz-Carlton already has a significant presence in the Middle East, including five properties in Bahrain, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, and Qatar. Other future hotels are being built in Abu Dhabi, and at Dubai's International Financial Centre.
