NYC Rings in 2012 Gay Pride with Fab Hotel Deals
It's June and that means it's LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) Pride Month. Parades have been marching every weekend in cities and towns across the country. (For those who aren't familiar: June was the chosen month as a nod to the Stonewall riots, regarded by most as the start of the Gay Rights movement.) This upcoming Sunday, the streets of NYC's West Village will be lined with thousands of supporters, many from outside the city…and they're going to need a place to crash. Lucky for them, lots of hotels are offering up great deals to show their support.
Convenient to all major NYC public transportation, the centrally located Times Square hotel is offering the Pride Package. Starting June 22, just in time to settle in before the big parade, guests can book this package and will enjoy two free Pride-inspired cocktails (like the "Dancing Queen Mojito" or "Rainbow Cosmopolitan"). Plus, 5% of the nightly rate, which starts at $299, will be donated to support Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids. Oh, and did I mention? The package is available through the end of the year.
Tucked away in the downtown Financial District, Gild Hall is offering a package for those just in need of a weekend retreat. (It's only available June 22 through June 25.) For $329/night, guests booking the Pride Package will receive two welcome cocktails and choice of two tickets to either the NYC Pride's VIP Rooftop Party or Rapture on the River at Pier 57.
For $300/night, guests taking advantage of the Proud in TriBeCa package will receive complimentary cocktails, a complimentary room upgrade (subject to availability), and (perhaps the best part) a 2 p.m. check-out, perfect to rest up and enjoy a leisurely start to the day. (Trust me; after a day spent out in the sun followed up by happy hour, you'll need it.) This package is available through June 25.
With four locations throughout the city, there are plenty of options, and each is offering the Primped and Pumped for Pride package. Starting at $449/night, guests stay in one of the hotels' suites and also receive two complimentary cocktails; a weeklong membership to David Barton Gym; in-room tanning; 2 VIP tickets to WORK! Party on June 23; and (sigh of relief) a late check-out.
While technically not a deal, this is still pretty cool, and I wanted to share. Lords South Beach, Miami's newest gay-friendly hotel, is taking over the Hotel on Rivington all week long. Nightly rates start at $268, and the week is chockfull of activities, from a performance from famous drag queen Sherry Vine (one of my personal faves) to a prix-fixe brunch to the finale: a rooftop party. Check the full schedule here.
So even if you don't live in the city, there's no excuse! Come on down and show your support. I know I'll certainly be out and about all weekend. Happy Pride!
