As New Yorkers will modestly admit, the city is home to more great restaurants than anywhere else in the country, and quite possibly the world. Got a problem with that? Yeah. I didn’t think so.

Today Michelin announces the lists included in its Guide New York City 2011 ($18.99, available tomorrow at your local bookstore), granting 715 restaurants each a place in its hallowed pages.

Five NYC restaurants have maintained the vaunted three-star rating: Daniel, Jean Georges, Le Bernardin, Masa, and Per Se. The list of ten two-star winners includes some new additions—Kajitsu, Marea, Chef Table at Brooklyn Fare, and Soto—and the 22 restaurants earning one star include five properties new to the list. And sadly, two that have closed in the past few months.

Perhaps more relevant to more eaters is the Michelin Guide’s list of “inspectors’ favorites for good value,” their Bib Gourmand, which features 95 great restaurants where you can enjoy a meal (defined as two dishes and a glass of wine or dessert) for $40 or less. This is where you’ll find some (not all!) of the neighborhood treasures that New Yorkers boast about.

The Michelin Guides have also offered Gotham food fans an amuse-bouche by posting the full list of Michelin-starred NYC restaurants and the Bib Gourmand lists on their Facebook page (!), but you’ll have to shell out $18.99 for the book to see all 715 restaurants and 55 cuisines they’ve rated. Sounds reasonable, when compared with the cost of a $400 prix-fixe dinner at Masa, no?

In addition to their 23 worldwide regional guides, Michelin Guides also publish North American guides to the San Francisco Bay Area and Wine Country, and will release their first guide to Chicago this November.
