Hotels.com Is Giving Away Free Hotel Rooms to Celebrate Pride in NYC
June 1 marked the beginning of Pride Month, a worldwide event honoring and recognizing the impact the LGBTQ community has had on the world. June was chosen as the month to celebrate in honor of the Stonewall riots, which occurred at the end of June 1969. As The Library of Congress noted, the riots were a “tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States.”
Around the globe, people will take part in parties, events, celebrations, and parades, along with the big event, WorldPride, which is set to be hosted in the New York City for the very first time. To celebrate that fact, Hotels.com wants to help those attending not only have a great time but also get to stay in the city for free.
“With more than 3 million people expected to travel for this historic event, we know that hotels are a hot commodity, and your friend’s couch is probably already spoken for,” the website said in a statement. “So if you can get yourself to NYC – whether it be by plane, train, automobile, or otherwise – Hotels.com can hook you up with a place to stay for free!”
For the event, Hotels.com is planning to give away 25 hotel rooms to 25 lucky winners for two night stays each (equaling 50 room stays) in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots. Starting on June 4, Pride-goers can head over to hotels.com/pride50 and share why they want to spend Pride in NYC for their chance to score a free room. The two-night stay will take place from June 29-July 1 at one of five Manhattan hotels.
