Just Back: A Star (Jones) in Mexico
I am the envy of all, trust me. Here I am on the terrace at the Royal Hideaway Resort & Spa in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, where I stayed with my friend Vanessa. I'm sitting at the edge of the Blue Pool in my "resort nightwear" -- can you imagine anything more gorgeous?I'm a longtime spa-goer, so a place has to be really good to impress me. And there's no better way to start your weekend than the 11 p.m. in-suite massage after a day of flying. I'm a big fan of aromatherapy so I asked for an aromatherapy massage that first night -- I told them I wanted to relax and they knew exactly what to choose, including lavender, my favorite. Then I just rolled off the table, onto the bed, and into my vacation. Best Souvenir: If I could bring anything home with me, it would be the wonderful bed with those Frette pillowcases to die for. Can I make that two things?Because Enrico, my concierge, has to come too. He was the best, arranging every massage, every spa treatment, every meal -- he dreamed up the grilled Mexican lobster tail for lunch, and if the champagne bottle even looked empty, he'd bring another one. Enrico set up a whole day of shopping for us when our day of sailing didn't happen; I brought back a hammock from the market for my house in East Hampton. Vanessa and I went into Cancún to do some tourist things, but at some point we looked at each other and said, "Why did we leave paradise?" We got back in the car, went back to the resort, and back to our terrace. Don't forget to pack: Your favorite, most comfortable robe, because all you're going to want to do is put it on, curl up, and love your vacation.
