Even if you haven't seen a Santorini sunset in person, there's a good chance you're aware of all of the hype that goes with the Greek island's famous Golden Hour. While the setting sun will add a glowing layer to even the most dull of scenes, it only helps that Santorini looks like it's straight off a postcard.
It's no surprise that Santorini was named one of the World's Best Islands in the 2015 and 2016 surveys. Just one look at a timelapse video documenting one of its sunsets and you can't help but recognize the intrigue. We'd go as far as saying that Santorini might just be heaven on Earth.
The island is much more than a pretty picture. Did you know that it's also one of the most unique places on Earth to make wine? (Thanks to the island's volcanic landscape.) Like any vacation-worthy destination, Santorini has its secrets. In fact, so many people have marked the location as "bucket list worthy," officials has discussed putting a limit on the number of cruisers visiting the island in order to preserve all of the natural sights that make it so noteworthy.
Whether you have or haven't had the privilege to see what all of the excitement is about, there's a good chance you're in need of a mid-day mental vacation—and we've got you covered. The following photos of Santorini at sunset are such to inspire some vacation planning, just don't hold us accountable for any impulse airfare purchases.
