Think you’re the biggest college football fan out there? The countdown is on to the official start of the football season, and CheapTickets is giving fans and tailgaters the opportunity to take their fandom to the next level by becoming the first-ever “Tailgate Tourist.” The job description? Travel with your BFF to five NCAA Division 1 matchups, enjoy the local tailgate cuisine, play some competitive rounds of corn hole, cheer for the home team, and report back on your findings.

According to CheapTickets, the chosen tourist will win travel for two to top college football cities, plus a $1,500 ticket stipend to attend the games. So if you’re the lucky winner, get ready to pack your cooler and support the teams in Athens, Georgia; Seattle, Washington; Columbus, Ohio; Raleigh, North Carolina; and Austin, Texas.

"Tailgating culture is steeped in team pride and tradition, and there's no better way to experience it than traveling to some of the best college campuses and stadiums across the nation," said Justine McDonald, Senior Brand Manager at CheapTickets. "Our Tailgate Tourist will join 35% of fans who said they plan to travel for a college football game this year. The biggest question will be who they bring with them. Most fans in our Tailgate Travel survey said they plan to travel with their significant other or a friend."

Tailgate fanatics have until Aug. 31, 2019 to enter the contest on cheaptickets.com. You’ll be prompted to answer two very important questions: "Which college football city do you most want to tailgate in this season?" and "What is your favorite tailgate dish?” You'd better choose wisely. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and a resident of the United States.

For those who don’t win, CheapTickets just released the first ever Tailgate Travel Index to identify the best travel deals and dates for the 2019 season. According to the survey results, more than 2/3 of fans are planning to travel to away games this year and will spend up to $300 in travel costs to cheer on their favorite team. Through CheapTickets travel index, you’ll be able to uncover the cheapest cities to travel to and the best dates to save on flights and hotels.
