They’re back! Duracell has returned with their Power Rovers (which I wrote about last year) to help light the iconic numerals that adorn Times Square for New Year's Eve—as seen by millions (some in person, many others on television).

As in previous years, the rovers will be open for the public to hop aboard and pedal. The energy created will be transferred to Duracell Battery Centers, where it will remain until the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve.

Several celebrities were on hand to kick off the opening. Like in the past, they came not only to drum up publicity for this eco-friendly effort but also to be the first to pedal. It was a fun group that included Ana Gasteyer, Chita Rivera, Joanna Lumley, Star Jones (above), and Kelly Rutherford (right).

If you find yourself near Times Square before the year is up, stop by the Visitor Center (located on 7th Ave. between 46th and 47th Streets) and help power the world's largest New Year's Eve celebration.

The Duracell Mobile Smart Power Lab will be open Monday–Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday & Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
