If you wished for something new on your next Florida vacation, the pixie dust is working.
Disney Parks & Resorts has announced a brand new hotel coming to Walt Disney World. Set to open in 2022, this top-tier, deluxe-level resort will have over 900 rooms at its Bay Lake-adjacent waterfront property.
Located between Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, the new hotel will be a boon for guests, given its proximity to Disney’s Magic Kingdom park — which, like its neighboring resorts, will likely also offer convenient boat access.
No word yet on the new hotel’s name or theme, but Disney is touting the woodsy property as being inspired by nature, namely the surrounding trees and waterfront views. With Disney’s Wilderness Lodge featuring the cozy lodge interiors and timeless sights of America’s northwestern National Parks — there’s even a geyser in homage of Yellowstone’s Old Faithful — and Fort Wilderness’ cabins nestled within 750 acres of forest, it’ll be interesting to see what this rustic resort shapes up to be.
Like many Walt Disney World hotels, part of this forthcoming property will be annexed for Disney Vacation Club, the timeshare-like program operating worldwide. These rooms, which offer apartment-style amenities within Disney hotels, are intended for DVC members but can be booked by any guests.
Still, it’s not the only property that might be open during your next stay, as Walt Disney World is currently working on two other expansions as well. Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is adding a 545-room, 15-story tower to the Mexico and Southwestern-influenced hotel, and construction on Disney’s Riviera Resort, an exclusively Disney Vacation Club hotel, continues to rise near Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort.
2022 sounds far away, but with so much opening before then — including a TRON roller coaster, Disney’s first Mickey Mouse-themed ride, and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge — the vacation of the future has a lot in store.
