Shanghai Disney Has Welcomed a Million People—And It's Not Even Open Yet
Shanghai Disney Resort won’t officially open the doors to its magical kingdom until June 16, but that hasn’t stopped a million people from paying a visit.
Disney fans apparently just can’t wait for a peek at the Enchanted Storybook Castle, the Pirates of the Caribbean Battle for the Sunken Treasure, the Buzz Lightyear Planet Rescue, the Alice in Wonderland Maze, the dinosaur-filled Adventure Island, and all the other wonders that the park holds. Since the Shanghai Disney metro station opened, Shanghai Disneyland has welcomed 960,000 visitors, Shanghai Daily reports.
Tickets for opening day sold out within hours; what’s more, the park is already sold out for the first two weeks of operation, according to China Daily. By the end of this year, Shanghai Disneyland projects it will welcome 15 million visitors, reports Shanghaiist.
With this much excitement, it’s a good thing that Shanghai Disneyland Park is three times larger than Hong Kong Disneyland, whose capacity is 34,000. (The Anaheim outpost of Disneyland is estimated to be around 85,000.)
