Here’s the Resort Where Michael Phelps Just Got Married
The El Dorado Golf & Beach Club in Cabo San Lucas boasts a Jack-Nicklaus-designed golf course.
Olympic superstar Michael Phelps officially tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend Nicole Johnson this weekend at a private wedding ceremony in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The two—who have been dating on and off since 2007, became engaged in February, and had their son, Boomer, in May—kept the details of their impending nuptials very much under wraps, although last week, reports uncovered they’ve actually been married since June. Meanwhile, both had been hinting at their excitement for the upcoming ceremony.
In any case, the duo chose a picture-perfect beachside location for the official celebration of their destination wedding. The El Dorado Golf & Beach Club is a private resort and golf course at the very southern tip of Mexico’s Baja Peninsula. Situated on 520 acres—with over a mile of private beachfront—the expansive upscale club has 84 residences, ranging from bungalows to full-on villas. The 18-hole course is designed by renowned golfer Jack Nicklaus, and comes highly-reviewed on Trip Advisor. That's not all: dining, sports, and spa facilities round out the spot.
The exclusive club is no stranger to celebrities, either: George Clooney, Cindy Crawford, and Rande Gerber are known to have owned some of the residences on the secluded site, as documented in Architectural Digest. It's safe to say Phelps and his new bride could have counted on the security and privacy of the beachy getaway for their special day.
