Where the Stars Say 'I do': 14 Stunning Celebrity Wedding Destinations
In the world of Hollywood, an average wedding simply won’t do. Whether it’s over-the-top decorations or hiring a world-renowned chef, there’s no expense spared when it comes to saying, “I do.” Then, of course, there’s the desire to keep the whole event a secret. Perhaps that's why so many celebrities have opted to skip out of the main hubs of L.A. or New York and plan a lavish affair thousands of miles away from home instead.
Everyone from George Clooney to Anne Hathaway has chosen to host a destination wedding in some of the world’s most stunning locations. While some were kept intimate, others were star-studded affairs—all of which made for some intriguing bridal fodder and Pinterest pins.
When George married Amal Alamuddin in Venice, Italy in 2014, the movie star was happy to parade his love to adoring fans. The duo was seen riding in private water taxis and arriving at Hotel Cipriani for their rehearsal dinner. The ceremony and reception took place at the Aman Grand Canal, with a five-course meal created by Riccardo de Pra, and later, fireworks lit up the Cipriani after party.
They weren’t the only ones to choose Italy as a wedding destination. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West famously got married Forte di Belvedere in Florence the same year, Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel welcomed 100 guests to Borgo Egnazia resort in southern Italy's Puglia for their nuptials, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes chose the 15th-century Odescalchi Castle in Bracciano, and both John Legend and Chrissy Teigen and Emily Blunt and John Krasinski used Lake Como for their backdrops.
Other popular destinations include France, but some stars opt for more off-the-radar spots. Katy Perry married Russell Brand in India following traditional customs, for instance, and Kate Bosworth chose Montana to marry Michael Polish.
