Exclusive Resorts, a destination club with more than 300 villas around the world, just announced that it is expanding on its membership-only model with the launch of the Gateway card. The new initiative puts the company in the same category as regular villa rentals and even hotels—groundbreaking for a company that typically requires a 30-year commitment.

The Gateway program lets you purchase three to 21 days of travel at a fixed rate of $1,550 to $1,995 per night. (Full-time members—those who pay the $170,000 initiation fee—pay $1,150 per night.) Many of their properties have four or five bedrooms, which means prices break down to $387.50 to $498.75 per room per night. They can be used over three years, and cardholders have access to some of the same benefits as full-time members, including pre-trip planning, daily housekeeping, and on-site villa staff.

The company has also introduced short-term Choice memberships, ranging from three to 10 years (regular memberships are for 30 years). Depending on membership length, average nightly rates are between $1,430 and $1,817 per night, inclusive of initiation fees and annual dues.
