Colorado has a lot to offer for travelers: five-star restaurants, shopping, gorgeous vistas and chances to get outdoors, and of course, lots of museums, theaters, and cultural experiences. And Denver is the place to be if you’re looking for all of these experiences in one place.

While a trip to Denver may seem far off since most of the country is staying home to combat coronavirus, you can still access many of the best parts of Denver online.

Visit Denver, the tourism authority for the city, created a new, online resource called Virtually Denver, where you can find an events calendar for livestreams, or access Denver’s top virtual museums, art galleries, performing arts, concerts, cooking classes, local film and literature, and lots of fun online experiences that are fit for the whole family.

Here are just a few unique online experiences that will get you into the Colorado spirit.

Museums and Art

A trip to the museum is the perfect family activity, and you can access many Denver museums with the click of a mouse. Take a 360-degree tour of the Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art, go on a virtual safari at the Denver Zoo, peruse the Denver Art Museum’s online collection, and discover Denver’s colorful public art and street art.

Theatre, music, and film

Denver has been a haven for artists for decades, so there are many ways to enjoy performances from local theater companies, actors, comedians, and musicians. Peek “Behind The Curtain” at the Colorado Opera, hear the Colorado Symphony play "Don't Stand So Close to Me" and “Ode to Joy,” see a livestream from Lemon Sponge Cake Contemporary Ballet, listen to the Rocky Mountain Virtual Music Festival (on Fridays), or feel like you’re actually attending a concert at the famous Red Rocks Amphitheatre via its live cam.

Denver Film Society is also releasing one-of-a-kind films for you to enjoy virtually, on its website, if you’re looking for a taste of the Denver indie film scene. Or, dip your toes into the comedy world by taking an online class through Voodoo Comedy.

Food and drink

Foodies can experience the best of Denver cuisine by taking classes, enjoying online demonstrations, and virtual happy hours. Learn to make your own cheese at home, level up your culinary skills with the staff at Uncorked Kitchen & Wine Bar, or learn how to craft the perfect cocktail with Denver’s best mixologists.

Outdoors

If you want to enjoy the Colorado sunshine and explore the Rockies, you’re in luck. You can virtually visit Rocky Mountain National Park via webcams and photographs through the national park’s website or Instagram. Or if you just fancy a stroll in a beautiful park or garden, take a self-guided tour of Hudson Gardens or explore the Denver Botanic Gardens for free.
