The T+L Social Ambassadors are a team of photographers who are taking it to the next level on Instagram. These are the people we see living their best lives, and inspiring our travels on a daily basis. These ambassadors help us all discover the world, whether it’s exploring a set of national parks, embarking on an African safari, or just taking some time to enjoy the sound of waves from a beach in Europe. Follow along as we introduce more of our ambassadors on the T+L website and social accounts.
You may know Christina Tan by her booming Instagram handle, @sassychris1. Her unique account combines her own stunning travel photography with photos from her friends—she shares the work of fellow travel ‘grammers, giving her handle a community vibe as opposed to one person’s point of view.
But she wasn’t always a travel photographer. Tan attended fashion school and made her debut in the fashion industry, and it was this passion that got her into photography in the first place. But it wasn’t until 2014 that she began taking landscape photos. “I’ve always loved to travel on my own and go on holiday to places I’ve seen in magazines,” Tan says. “I told myself it would be such a waste if I didn’t take photos of those destinations so I started to teach myself.”
We all have those vacation destinations that hold a special place in our hearts, and some of you may relate to Tan’s choice. “My favorite vacation was to Cinque Terre, Italy with its breathtaking landscape, outstanding Italian food, and simple village life. Every morning and night, I hiked beautiful spots, chasing sunrises and sunsets—afterward rewarding myself with delicious Italian dishes.”
In terms of what’s next, Tan admits that’s there’s so many places I haven’t been—but Lake Bled in Slovenia tops her bucket list. Here’s to hope she goes soon so we can all live vicariously through her photos.
We asked Tan to share some of her favorite photos that she’s taken during her travels. If you’re looking for some vacation inspiration—and just an excuse to tune out from your day for a minute—give these shots a look. You won’t regret it.
