Winter has just warmed up, as two luxury resorts give beachgoers a chance to buy condominiums by the sea. Part of a $35 million renovation due for completion in early 2005, the Grace Bay Club (1 Grace Bay Circle Rd., Providenciales, Turks and Caicos; 800/946-5757 or 649/946-5050;; apartments from $850,000) is building 38 private Mediterranean-style villas with pale yellow stucco façades, high coffered ceilings, granite and chrome kitchens, and balconies with unobstructed ocean views. Owners of the two- and three-bedroom apartments will have access to the club's services (European spa, fitness center) and can rent out their units between stays. Over on Grand Bahama Island, 24 British colonial-themed condos are being added to Old Bahama Bay's 150-acre community (800/444-9469 or 242/350-6500;; apartments from $295,000). The fully furnished one-bedroom Beachcomber and two-bedroom Grand Bay units include balconies or patios, and are set directly on the sand.
