See the Best of Southeast Asia by Bus on This New 20-day Tour From India to Singapore
The inaugural 20-day Bus to Singapore leaves from Imphal, India, in November 2021 and travels through five countries en route to Singapore.
The in-betweens of major cities are often where the true adventures await — and Adventures Overland is making sure travelers don't miss a mile of it in Southeast Asia with its new tour, Bus to Singapore. The 20-day itinerary starts in Imphal, India, and travels about 2,800 miles through Myanmar, Thailand, and Malaysia, before arriving in Singapore.
The India-based company has long been known for its supersized road trip itineraries, including in India and around the globe (upcoming trips include options in Jordan, China's Silk Route, and Central Asia), in which travelers use their own cars to join the caravan. Last year, they announced the 70-day, 18-country Bus to London, which will make its first trip this May.
The company says the new trip, which they announced on India's Republic Day last Tuesday, will be the first of its kind between the two destinations, but it comes from a team who has done the drive before.
"We are thrilled to introduce the first bus service from India to Singapore with utmost comfort and luxury," Adventures Overland cofounder Sanjay Madan said in the release. "The entire route has been evaluated as we have already driven from India to Singapore. So, participants on Bus to Singapore can get on board with the knowledge and confidence that they are in safe hands."
The 20-seat bus has been outfitted with business-class-style seats, with two in each row and the aisle in between. Also on board are phone charging ports, Wi-Fi, individual entertainment systems, and a mini pantry with a cooler for water, beverages, and snacks. For 625,000 Indian rupees (about $8,500), the itinerary also includes all hotel stays (based on sharing twin rooms), meals (daily breakfast, 15 lunches, and 16 dinners, plus snacks), local English-speaking guides in each destination, entrance fees to attractions, airport transfers in India, and tourist visas.
The first trip is scheduled to depart on Nov. 14, 2021 and includes stops in Myanmar's Kale, Bagan, Naypyidaw, Yangon, and Kyaikto; Thailand's Tak, Bangkok, Chumphon, and Krabi; and Malaysia's Mount Jerai, Cameron Highlands, and Kuala Lumpur. A visit to the Batu Caves is also included.
"Every single route in each country has been vetted to ensure that the journey is seamless," company cofounder Tushar Agarwal added. "We take charge of documentation, paperwork, visas, and permits to ensure that participants' entire focus is on experiencing the journey."
Madan and Agarwal were featured on the show The Great Indian World Trip on TLC India, when they traveled across six continents and 50 countries. They also hold the Guinness World Record for driving the longest distance in a single country in Australia, which they set in 2013.
