Best Family Hotels in Boston

The city of Boston recognizes traveling with kids is no easy feat, and hotels in this town go the extra mile to provide for guests of all ages. Upon entering the doors of the many family-friendly hotels in town, children are treated like VIP guests with care packages, milk and cookies before bed, and in some, a free stay. Entertaining adventures for kids can be found all over the city as well. The Rose Kennedy Greenway has a carousal designed with the help of Boston’s elementary school children, and the Legoland Discovery Center in Somerville features rides and games for children 3–10 years old. While Boston is a playground all by itself, hotels are stocked with enough to keep kids busy during down time, like the game room at the Marriott Custom House, or roof-top pool at The Colonnade. Looking to book a trip to Beantown with your little ones in tow? Here are five hotels I recommend.

Marriott’s Custom House

See the massive clock tower on Boston’s skyline? That’s the Custom House Tower, a 200-year-old historic landmark where you’re sleeping tonight. Once known for regulating goods coming in to Boston Harbor, the building now houses a Marriott hotel complete with observation deck, activity center, movie theater, and game room featuring billiards, foosball, air hockey, and arcade games.

Four Seasons, Boston

Located directly across from the Boston Common, this luxury Boston hotel treats its pint-sized guests like royalty. With the Superstar Kids Package, kids and teens get an age-appropriate swag bag, trendy sunglasses, and a family breakfast at The Bristol Lounge. Children 18 and under also stay free, compliments of the hotel.

Hotel Marlowe

Can you think of better family bonding than a day paddling the scenic and serene Charles River channel? Kayak and bike rentals are complimentary at this Cambridge hotel, and as one of the more pet-friendly hotels in the city, there is no additional charge for the fluffy, furry, or feathered members of your crew.

The Colonnade

This stylish Boston boutique located just a short stroll from Fenway Park offers family packages with guaranteed connecting rooms, and tickets to your choice of Children’s Museum, Boston Duck tour, or New England Aquarium. Kids of all ages will love blissfully swimming in the roof-top pool, which affords a sweeping, skyscraper-studded view of the city.
