I'm traveling to Cambodia and want to go beyond Angkor. Are there companies that visit additional places?

Organized trips to Cambodia tend to center on its most famous temples and then hop over to nearby Laos and Vietnam, bypassing the country's other cultural wonders. Travelers who want to explore the rest of Cambodia should look into Journeys Within (877/454-3672; www.journeys-within.com; five-day trip from $660 per person); the On Only a Beaten Track tour visits lesser-known temples, a floating village in the Tonle Sap (Great Lake), and the River of 1,000 Lingas, north of Siem Reap. Trips led by Carpe Diem Travel (44-845/226-2198; www.carpe-diem-travel.com; two-week trip from $1,045 per person), an environmentally conscious company based in London, include excursions to the National Museum in Phnom Penh and motorcycle rides through the countryside. Finally, Abercrombie & Kent (800/554-7016; www.abercrombiekent.com) will help you customize your own itinerary, arranging, for example, a classic Khmer ballet performance at a local temple.

My husband and I are looking for a weekend getaway on the Oregon Coast. Can you recommend a hotel?

Two of the best are located south of Lincoln City, along the central stretch of Oregon's 363-mile coastline. All 205 rooms at Salishan Spa & Golf Resort (7760 Hwy. 101 N., Gleneden Beach; 888/ 725-4742; www.salishan.com; doubles from $165) have balconies with views of Siletz Bay, the golf course, or the surrounding forest. At the resort's new 8,000-square-foot spa, treatments (with Kerstin Florian products) range from a Pacific stone massage to a caviar facial. The Couples Kur includes a scrub, a side-by-side massage, and a customized healing bath (the tub's large enough for two). Farther south, the literary-themed Sylvia Beach Hotel (267 N.W. Cliff St., Newport; 888/795-8422; www.sylviabeachhotel.com; doubles from $91, including breakfast), on an empty strip of Nye Beach, is the perfect place for a quiet tryst. None of the 22 rooms has a phone or television, and each is named after a writer and decorated to evoke his or her works and life. The most coveted rooms are the three Classics (Agatha Christie, Colette, and Mark Twain), all of which have fireplaces and decks that face the sea.

Do any cruise companies cater specifically to single travelers?

Unfortunately, the major lines continue to overlook this growing market and still charge solo travelers a supplement fee. But two tour operators pair cruisers with roommates and organize activities on board to facilitate matchmaking. Singles Travel International (877/765-6874; www.singlestravelinternational.com) partners with Royal Caribbean International, Cunard, Celebrity Cruises, and Viking River Cruises to arrange trips for unattached professionals. STI plans to book trips on Silversea and Seabourn in 2006. SinglesCruise.com (800/393-5000; www.singlescruise.com) also offers trips on major cruise lines and tailors these to specific age groups and demographics (such as a cruise for single parents—children welcome).
