Best Romantic Hotels in Sydney

Here on your honeymoon? Celebrating a milestone anniversary? Simply getting away for a vacation with your honey? Sydney has you covered. Sure, there are some smaller boutique hotels dotting the cityscape, but for your money, you can’t go past the big dogs on the hospitality circuit here. Dollar for dollar, they do an excellent job of catering to couples, with a line-up of special packages that brim with options for pampering and primping—from special treats on arrival, to personal attendants, on-site spa treatments, valet parking and, best of all, late checkouts so you can stay in bed and enjoy one another’s company (and the spectacular view from your room high in the sky) for just a few hours longer. You’ll be so spoiled you may not actually want to leave the room. That said, be sure you actually do. Nobody wants to come home from vacation with the news that they spent the entire holiday in bed. Especially when the explanation has nothing to do with, erm, food poisoning.

Park Hyatt Sydney

Located just a stone’s throw from the Sydney Harbour Bridge at the north-western end of Circular Quay, the Park Hyatt may just be the city’s best-placed accommodation. Try their Romance at the Park special, which gets you chilled French champagne and hand-made chocolate truffles on arrival, two glasses of wine and a dessert plate at the bar, and a personal butler to attend to your every need throughout your stay. Plus, late checkout!

Taj Blue Hotel

This spacious stunner on the wharf at Woolloomooloo is a scene at any hour of the day—there are fancy restaurants and a gorgeous hotel bar at the base, and inside, the clean and spacious rooms offer a quiet oasis for couples looking to unwind as they gaze upon some of the best views in the city.

Shangri-La Hotel

The Shangri-La is one of Sydney’s most opulent hotels. The 36-story structure affords guests views of the cityscape and the harbor, and the luxurious CHI spa offers the ultimate in two-person packages with its Couple’s Escape Journey. You’ll get a private salt scrub, full body massage, and a facial—plus time alone with your honey. Celebrate your bliss with a long dinner at Altitude restaurant on the hotel’s top floor.

Four Seasons Sydney

A recent renovation has spruced up this haven for both business travelers and couples who want to be spoiled during their stay in Sydney. The Romance Package gets you a bottle of sparkling wine and canapés delivered directly to your room, along with breakfast, valet parking, and a late checkout of 3 p.m. Have I mentioned the bathtubs? They’re gigantic, and made for two.

The Langham

Go for the Happily Ever Package at the renowned Langham on Kent Street. You’ll get breakfast for two in their Galileo restaurant, a bottle of sparkling Australian wine, and chocolate-dipped strawberries upon arrival, access to the health club and swimming pool, complimentary Internet access, and a late checkout of 2pm…that is, if they can pull you out of your love nest.
