With Hurricane Matthew wreaking havoc in the Caribbean and along the eastern U.S. coast—killing hundreds in Haiti and causing government-issued warnings to evacuate coastal states—there are a lot of videos of the destruction on the ground.

A video from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration gives us an aerial perspective on the sheer power of Hurricane Matthew.

Pilots flew directly into the eye of the hurricane and caught it all on camera from the cockpit. The hurricane hunters were gathering data on the storm's strength, including wind speed, temperature, and air pressure.
