This is the World's Safest Country
The Institute of Economics and Peace (IEP) just released its 10th edition of the Global Peace Index, revealing the countries with the fewest threats to personal safety.
The study analyzes 24 factors, including violent crime, political terror, weapons import and export, and prison population.
Iceland came in at No. 1 for the sixth year in a row, having received a nearly perfect score with a GPI of 1.192. Also worth noting: the nation is the only NATO member without a standing army.
Denmark, Austria, New Zealand, and Portugal took over the remaining top five spots. They, too, have notably low levels of military conflict home and abroad.
While the list indicated a global trend toward less peace and more terror, the study did find that those countries who have the least amount of conflict are actually getting more peaceful.
