135 Million Americans Haven’t Had a Vacation in 12 Months
But there's still hope for 2015
As if Americans needed another reminder that they don't know how to vacation, Allianz Travel Insurance has released their sixth annual "Vacation Confidence Index" tracking vacation time trends. The study digs into Americans' confidence as to whether or not they'll be able to take a trip at some point during the year. Spoiler: It doesn't look good. The most glaring statistic cites 135 million Americans (56 percent of the surveyed) reporting that they hadn't taken a vacation in the past 12 months—that's up about 10 million from 2014 when 126 million people reported a lack of vacation.
Those numbers may seem a little dismal, but Americans are holding on tight to their beachside dreams: The majority (51 percent) are still confident that they'll get some traveling in by the end of 2015. Moral of the story: Start planning that vacation!
