Olympic-bound steeplechase competitor Emma Coburn learned the hard way that checked baggage is not a great place for priceless valuables.
“Unpacking from the Olympic Trials,” she posted on Twitter, after flying to Boulder, Colorado. “Looks like TSA broke my medal. Big piece of glass broken off and missing.”
While most of us aren’t transporting gold medals, there's a lesson here — even for couch potatoes. If you're transporting something valuable, it's best to keep it on you instead of in checked baggage in order to avoid damage.
