Travel + Leisure Editorial Guidelines Published on April 26, 2018 Share Tweet Pin Email Photo: Crystal Bolin/Getty Images According to a 2017 survey by The Knot, the average cost of a wedding is $33,391 — and that's not even including the honeymoon. When it costs that much to gather their family and friends in one spot, brides and grooms on a budget have to look far and wide for ways to save. A reasonably priced wedding venue is a great place to start, and an app called Peerspace claims to offer all kinds of creative spaces without spending a fortune. According to Peerspace, the average couple spent $2,032 on the platform for a wedding venue in 2017, compared to the national average of $15,163. Beyond finding a cheap venue, Peerspace’s event planners suggest saving money with alternative refreshment options, scaling down invitations to just close friends and family, and researching a local coordinator that might be less expensive than a traditional wedding planner. They don't recommend skimping on everything though. Shelling out the cash on little expenses that are important to you, like special services for the bridal party or a special champagne toast, will make it memorable. Was this page helpful?
