On an exceptionally warm day in April, we caught up with stylist, designer, and editor Rachel Zoe at her third-annual ZOEasis Style Retreat happening just down the street from the Coachella Valley Music and Arts festival.

Inside, Zoe feasted on a brunch fit for a queen along with a few dozen of her closest friends including Jamie Chung, Chanel Iman, and Kate Bosworth. Of course, we had to take the opportunity to ask her a few questions about her jet-setting lifestyle.

Keep reading to learn Zoe’s secrets to looking glam while traveling (just check out her luggage choices), and her love affair with luxurious moisturizers.

What’s the one thing you can’t travel without?

"Seven different kinds of moisturizers and serums to keep my skin hydrated. I have a lot and they're all by different brands. I love SK-II, I love Tata Harper, I love Charlotte Tilbury, I love her Magic Cream, I have a lot."

To buy: Charlotte Tilbury's Magic Cream, nordstrom.com, starting at $100

Do you have a favorite carry-on bag?

"Yes! I have two. If I’m only bringing two bags and not checking bags, I bring my Louis Vuitton wheelie with my oversized, vintage Chanel bag. It just holds all of my stuff so it’s very easy."

What’s your favorite trip you’ve ever taken?

"About two years ago, Roger and I went for Natalie Massenet’s birthday in Positano [Italy]. It was four days of the most magical weekend of my life. Honestly, it was like make believe. Every moment was like a dream."

Name one place that really surprised you.

"Austin, Texas. I was just in Austin and I didn’t know what to expect from it. Roger and I stayed at this incredible hotel and I was like, ‘This is one of the coolest hotels I’ve ever stayed in.’

It was this very industrial hotel but it was also very luxurious. It was awesome. I’m always pleasantly surprised when some place I thought was going to be just okay turns out to be amazing."

What's a place you’ve never been that you’d love to go to?

"The Maldives. I’m dying to go to the Maldives. I’m a big St. Barts person. It's my favorite place that we go, but I would love to go to the Maldives."
