Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Will 'Celebrate Privately' Before Announcing Royal Birth
Though it may seem like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, are happy to live in the limelight, it now appears that the royal couple wants to keep at least some things private. And really, we can’t blame them.
In an announcement, Kensington Palace shared, “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very grateful for the goodwill they have received from people throughout the United Kingdom and around the world as they prepare to welcome their baby.” The statement added, “Their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private. The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family.”
That’s royal speak for “we’ll let you know about our baby’s arrival when we want to.”
According to the Daily Mail, the Duchess of Sussex plans to give birth to their first child away from the prying eyes of the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital in London, where Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, gave birth. Instead, Meghan could give birth at home, surrounded by midwives.
But, the Duchess is also pragmatic and has a backup plan with hospital staff, according to a source.
“It is her favored choice,” the source told the Daily Mail about the plan to give birth at home. “But it obviously depends on how things are nearer the time.”
For fans of the couple, this also means they will not get a photo of Meghan and Harry standing on the steps of St. Mary’s Hospital immediately after the child’s birth. According to People, Harry and Meghan will instead host a “photo call” when they are ready a small group of press. That group will only include one reporter, one photographer, and one TV camera, People reported. The event will take place on the grounds of Windsor Castle, the palace announced.
According to the palace, it will still announce when the Duchess is in labor so we can all be prepared for an adorable photo of the new baby. Then, Meghan and Harry will likely announce the news on their new Instagram account. Now, all we can do is wait for that announcement to come in the royal’s own time.
