Travel + Leisure Editorial Guidelines Published on April 11, 2019 Share Tweet Pin Email Photo: Tom Mannion Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, and Prince Harry are likely just days away from meeting their first child. The pair have already celebrated with a baby shower, prepared their home, and gone into maternity leave. That means there was just one thing left to do: Take a babymoon. Tom Mannion Babymoons — or getaways for expecting parents before their first child arrives — are far more popular than they used to be, which makes it not so surprising that two royals as trendy as Meghan and Harry would take one. Tom Mannion Though many couples chose to go off to distant places and beachside destinations for their babymoons, Harry and Meghan decided to keep it local instead. According to People, the royal couple spent three nights at Heckfield Place, a five-star hotel located 45-minutes away from their brand-new home, Frogmore Cottage. Tom Mannion The stunning hotel opened its doors in 2018, but the building is much older than that. As Departures noted, the hotel is actually a renovated 18th-century Georgian manor set on 435 acres of stunning land in Hampshire, England. And the renovations may have truly made it the perfect spot for Harry and Meghan. “I wanted simple things, but of the highest quality,” Ben Thompson, of BWT in London, who designed the interior of the new hotel, told Departures. According to Thompson, the new interior is stripped down to the bones to make room for earthy tones and exposed brick. Beyond the hotel’s aesthetic, there’s also plenty of things for the hip royals to enjoy. That includes the hotel’s wellness spa, personal training, pilates and yoga studios, a chef’s kitchen, and more. The royals also didn’t skimp on service during their stay. According to People, the pair booked the Long Room, a $13,000-per-night private apartment that includes a personal butler. But, if anyone deserves that level of service it’s an expecting mother. So, she can babymoon as hard as she wants because this may be one of the last good nights of sleep she’ll get for a while. Was this page helpful? Thanks for your feedback! Tell us why! Other Submit
