Kim Kardashian West says the Paris robbery changed the way she travels
But even the rich and famous aren’t immune to dangers abroad. Kim Kardashian West witnessed this first hand after she was robbed in Paris during fashion week. After a night of runway shows Kardashian West returned to her room where she was later tied up and held against her will while two men demanded her valuables—mainly her jewelry.
After going silent for months on social media, and limiting her public appearances for a couple months, Kardashian is back in the spotlight. Most recently she appeared on The Ellen Show, where she spoke about the harrowing event, and how it change her, and her travels, forever.
Speaking to Ellen about how the incident changed her life, Kardashian said: “I feel like that was meant to happen to me, I’m such a different person. I feel like things happen in your life to teach you things. I was definitely materialistic before… I’m so happy that my kids get this me. Because I just don’t care about that stuff anymore.”
It also has changed the way she travels. After claiming she will no longer wear jewelry — or at least not real jewelry — she spoke about her security.
“My life has completely changed, as far as how I travel and what security [I have]. I never thought I’d need security staying outside my door,” she said. “If you think about it, I should have had a security outside my door 24/7 when I’m traveling. Now, I have several [security gaurds], just so I can sleep at night.”
