This Is Your Chance to Go Shopping With Sarah Jessica Parker in New York City
With its latest tour offerings, Airbnb is hoping to offer travelers experiences in their destinations they never thought they'd have.
Though Airbnb “experiences” have been available for over a year, the company is hoping to ratchet things up by unveiling a number of new tours in New York City — no vacation rental required — which will all be lead by real New Yorkers. As The New York Times reported, the site is currently offering 150 options in the Big Apple, including a street dancing tour and walkthrough in a craft whiskey distillery.
But, there is one tour people are flocking to more than any other: A shopping tour with Sarah Jessica Parker.
That’s right, Carrie Bradshaw herself is offering a walking tour of the city that will stop at all of her favorite destinations.
“I'm an actor, producer, businesswoman, avid reader and a proud New Yorker,” the site’s “about your host” section reads. “While my professional life has taken me all over the world, I'll always call NYC home. The inspiration I find here fuels my work, from designing the SJP Collection to serving on the NYC Ballet Board of Directors. When I'm not working, you can often find me wandering the streets, falling deeper in love with NYC.”
According to Airbnb, the tour will start at Bloomingdale’s 59th Street store, “an iconic NYC landmark, for what I hope is an unforgettable shoe-shopping experience.” Next, Parker will help you shop for the perfect pair of, what else, shoes from the SJP Collection.
Next, the tour will head to Forty Carrots for what “some may say is the best frozen yogurt in NYC and we’ll chat about my city and why I’ve called it home for so many years.” After that stop tour attendees will be shipped off to the New York City Ballet where they will sit in some of the best seats in the house. “It’ll be a night you won’t soon forget,” Airbnb said.
Parker isn’t the only celebrity getting in on the Airbnb action. According to USA Today, other New York City celebrity tours include one lead by former NFL player Michael Strahan, which will take guests golfing at Chelsea Piers to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, along with actor Ansel Elgort, who will lead tourists through his very own Brooklyn neighborhood to benefit Americares hurricane relief efforts.
For Parker’s trip, which costs $400 per person, all the proceeds will go to the New York City Ballet.
Prices for other Airbnb experiences range from just $10 to more than $100, depending on location, market and what's offered in the tour. Check out its complete tour listings here.
