Gatwick Airport had its busiest month ever in July, with 4.6 million passengers traveling through the hub.
While the airport still trails London's Heathrow, which saw 7.4 million passengers in July, by a large margin, it's 6.9 percent increase over July 2015, and the busiest month in Gatwick's 80-year history.
Airport officials, eager to show the importance of expansion at Gatwick, also boasted bigger growth of long-haul routes.
“Gatwick’s continued long-haul growth—up 23 percent year-on-year—and strong cargo growth are the latest proof that competition in the London airports’ market is working,” said Gatwick CEO Stewart Wingate.
The announcement was accompanied by new photographs from Jeffrey Milstein, whose aerial photography captures the unusual and mundane in fascinating detail.
