An Emirates flight with 300 people onboard crash landed at the Dubai airport on Wednesday before erupting into flames.
Passengers and crew were safely evacuated from the Boeing 777 before the plane was consumed by fire, sending billowing smoke into the air and halting flights at the airport.
Flight EK521 arrived from Thiruvananthapuram, India, at about 12:45 p.m. local time.
“All passengers and crew are accounted for and safe,” according to the airline. That included 226 Indians, 24 Britons, 11 Emiratis, six Americans, and six Saudi Arabians.
Tragically, a firefighter on the scene died while working to help others, according to the airline.
Emirates has not given any additional information on the cause of the problem.
