Virgin Atlantic, which has so far only offered flights between Las Vegas and Heathrow during high-traffic days surrounding CES, has decided to offer flights on that route year-round.

The LAS-LHR flight will replace the one Virgin Atlantic has been operating between McCarran International Airport and London’s Gatwick Airport since 2009 and will be serviced by a Boeing 787 aircraft departing Las Vegas daily at 7:05 p.m. and setting out from Heathrow Airport daily at 12:40 p.m.

You can go to the Virgin Atlantic website and book a ticket now, but only for flights on March 31, 2019 or later, when the carrier also will debut a second daily flight between Heathrow and Boston.

Qatar Airways at Gatwick

London’s Gatwick Airport may be losing that Virgin Atlantic flight to Las Vegas, but this week it picked up twice-daily Qatar Airways flights to and from Doha. (Between June 15 and September 29, Qatar will offer three daily flights on the route on Fridays and Saturdays.)

Qatar, which this summer will offer six daily flights between Doha and London’s Heathrow Airport, is using a Boeing 787 Dreamliner on the Doha-Gatwick route with 22 business class and 232 economy class seats.

Prep for Poutine

This week Air Canada began flying daily year-round, nonstop flights between Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport and Montréal - Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport.

Start Planning a Ski Trip

And for those who’d like to buy tickets for next winter’s ski trips in and around Vail, Colorado, United Airlines just announced new weekly, seasonal nonstop service between Los Angeles International Airport and Eagle County Regional Airport. For the winter season, which starts December 19, United will also step up from weekly to daily service between EGE and both San Francisco International Airport and Dulles Washington International Airport.
