A Year After Hurricane Maria, Puerto Rico Is Investing in New Technology to Bring Back Tourists
Before heading down to Puerto Rico, there’s a new app you should download to make the most of your time on the island.
Created by the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, My Puerto Rico brings together all of the hotels on the island in one digital location. The island is calling it a first-of-its-kind experience for travelers.
“In hospitality, we often focus on differentiating hotels from one another, but in this case, the Puerto Rico Tourism Company is bringing hotels together to delight all who visit the island,” the CEO of ALICE, a partner company in the app, Justin Effron, said in a press release.
Via the app, guests select the hotel where they are staying and are then able to access hotel-specific features. Travelers can plan outings, ask the concierge for advice, book a babysitter, make dinner reservations, and learn about other activities throughout Puerto Rico.
One of My Puerto Rico’s most unique features is a messaging system that allows guests to communicate directly with their hotels, either through the app or SMS. Guests can send a message to the front desk requesting room service, more towels by the pool, or even warn about an unexpected early or late arrival time.
Puerto Rico is in the midst of an aggressive campaign to bring visitors back one year following the impact of Hurricane Maria. My Puerto Rico is part of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company’s push to position the island as a forward-thinking, modern destination.
