Meghan Markle may soon become a citizen of the United Kingdom (you know, since she married a prince and all), but that doesn’t mean she’s leaving the United States in the dust. In fact, according to reports, Meghan may soon be returning to her homeland to pay a visit to her friends and family.
“She’s planning a personal, unofficial trip this summer to see family and friends,” a source told Us Weekly. “She’ll go to New York, then L.A.”
As for the trip's timing, royal watchers are speculating that the newly minted Duchess of Sussex wants to head to the states now because she's planning to soon have a family with Prince Harry.
“Expect to hear the pitter-patter of a little prince or princess in 2019,” an additional source told Us Weekly.
And though Meghan will likely lay low during this trip as it’s a personal excursion, it turns out this may not be her only sojourn home in the coming months. According to Us Weekly, Meghan and Harry may be making an official royal visit to the states in 2019.
“They are thinking New York, Washington, D.C., and California,” another unidentified source added. “They’re working to finalize locations and venues. … The Canadian Foreign Office has heard about the tour and would love to have them stop there. This may very well become a North American tour.”
Meghan and Harry will undoubtedly rack up more than a few frequent flier miles in the fall and spring as they are also going on a confirmed royal visit to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and the Kingdom of Tonga this fall. There, the couple will celebrate the Invictus Games, which Prince Harry founded as a way to celebrate and inspire wounded soldiers in their recovery.
“As the founder of the Invictus Games, The Duke of Sussex has become a champion for war veterans around the world, including in Australia,” Australia’s Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said in a statement. “His attendance, alongside The Duchess of Sussex, will be a wonderful highlight for the more than 500 competitors and thousands of spectators.”
Surely, a visit to the U.S. would be an incredible highlight for 2019 as well.
